This blog was created to encourage Michael Bloomberg to run for President of the United States as an independent in 2008 and to make an argument as to why voters should elect him if he runs. Why is Mike Bloomberg an exciting candidate?
- Bloomberg has been a Democrat, then a Republican, and now an independent. He is really more vested in doing the right thing then furthering the cause of a political party.
- Mike Bloomberg is independently wealthy to the degree that he can finance his entire campaign himself if he so chooses. This means that he will not be held hostage to the interests of his donors and can make independent choices about what is good for the country.
- Both the Republican and the Democratic party are corrupt; both parties are more concerned about winning than about doing what is right, and the country is more polarized than ever. The Republican President's approval rating is abysmal and the Democratic controlled congress' approval rating is too. A third party independent candidacy has a great chance to succeed.
- Bloomberg will run the country like a business and get our spending and deficit under control. As an independent who does not need outside donors, he can enact policies that actually are practical and make sense instead of policies that pander to his party base.
